About RMB Industries

History

RMB Industries is born out of a vision by Rich Barwick to design an ideal tactical baton.  With over 30 years of experience in martial arts Rich became focused on the special case of "arrest and control" equipment and tactics.  Rich conducted extensive trials of various designs; noting the weaknesses of each variation in order to develop an ideal tool.  Each stage of development incorporated a preferable design characteristic.

  • The side-handle adjoined at an angle to enhance retention.
  • The handle was reconfigured as a yoke to permit leveraged control
  • The yoke was modified to house a triggered handcuff
  • A remote control mechanism was designed along the shaft
  • Various finishes and grips were tested for use and durability

On November 24, 2004 Rich filed for a patent on his cuffing baton.  Six months later he was awarded US Patent No. 7,029,397.  Things were moving fast.  By this time there was already widespread interest among those in law enforcement who had been given early exposure to the product and the hunt was on to find inital investors and bring the product to market.

On February 2, 2006 the engineering design process was started and three months of intensive prototyping began.  This stage concluded with a product that can withstand harsh environments and yet remains comfortable and functional.

On May 22, 2006, the first batons began rolling out of the factory.  RMB Industries, Inc. was now open for business and taking orders.

The rest, as they say, is history... Or at least it will be.  We believe that cuffing baton technology represents the future of tactical batons.  We further believe that this technology will facilitate a fundemental change in law enforcement "arrest and control" procedures; Shifting toward "control" tactics and away from "striking" tactics.  A shift that will improve the public perception of law enforcement and decrease the instance of litigation over claims of excessive force.

Mission

The mission of RMB Industries, Inc. is to bring innovative technology to the security industry.  To help protect and serve officers in the line of duty.
